Post-2007 season

After a turbulent 2007 campaign both on and off the pitch, Shelbourne finished in a respectable 5th place in the FAI First Division. Despite an improved second-half of the 2007 campaign, changes amongst the playing staff became inevitable with impending budget cuts.

On December 3, 2007 Shelbourne announced the release of 15 players that completed the 2007 campaign including loanees Mark Leech and Noel Haverty. Central defender Stuart Malcolm would later depart Shelbourne on January 15, 2008 to join Finn Harps bringing Shels' close season departures to 16.
